SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Elementary Instruction is a dynamic and visionary leader responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of programs within Fluvanna County Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serve as a member of the Division Curriculum & Instruction Leadership Team, providing leadership, guidance, and feedback on the division priorities and work, especially regarding instruction and Federal Programming.
- Develop, identify, recommend, and implement instructional and programming policies, changes, and the FCPS annual plan needed to comply with changes in federal and state statutes as they affect instruction and Federal programming.
- Support and organize professional development at the elementary level.
- Oversee implementation of the Virginia Preschool Initiative.
- Serve as coordinator of Federal Programs for Title I/Title II.
- Oversee Science and Social Studies curriculum for Elementary grades.
- Coordinate Gifted programming at the Elementary level.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Assist in the establishment of goals and objectives for district-aligned instructional programming by using systems data to lead the improvement of the district to positively impact students and staff.
- Assess staffing needs in collaboration with the Central Office Leadership Team, evaluate personnel, and assist in determining goals to improve performance.
- Supervise, monitor, and maintain complete and accurate records to ensure compliance as required by law, division, policy, and administrative procedures; complete assigned and related state reports.
- Review, analyze, and communicate data to assist with the completion of reports for VDOE.
- Attend a variety of meetings to maintain current knowledge of legislation, legal codes, and requirements; attend workshops and meetings with division, County, and State personnel; and conduct and facilitate meetings.
- Attend and prepare for scheduled meetings with the Superintendent, Central Office Leadership Team, School Board, and other stakeholders, providing necessary reports, responses, presentations, and recommendations.
- Perform other duties that the superintendent, or designee, may assign.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination, and disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate, and arrange for appropriate training of subordinates.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must hold a valid teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education and administration and supervision, PK-12; and five to ten years related experience and/or training preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret education periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
TECHNICAL SKILLS Ability to use financial reporting software, be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Suite products, including Google Sheets and Google Docs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must hold a valid teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education and administration and supervision, PK-12, and five to ten years of related experience and/or training preferred.
