SUMMARY

Assists in overall maintenance of the school property to ensure a condition of operating efficiency and excellence. Perform preventative, routine, and specialized maintenance and repairs to school division buildings, equipment, grounds, and related systems.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 

Maintenance related experience preferred. 

Related trade licenses or certifications (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, etc.) Preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

 High school diploma or GED equivalency.

 Hold a valid Virginia driver's license.

 Hold a valid trade license or certification (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, etc.) Preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

12  month contract. Shifts may vary based on needs of the school and division. 

EVALUATION  Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
