Job Title: Custodian (12 month) - Night Shift

Reports To: Principal/Supervisor

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

 

SUMMARY  Keeps the school building and school offices in clean and orderly condition for employees and students by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED; up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, emails, and text messages.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Virginia Driver’s license required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

12 month contract based on the needs of the school and division.

Shifts may vary based on needs of the school and division. 

EVALUATION  Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
