Job Title:           Athletic Trainer  - Part-time/Hourly

Salary Index:    $50.00 per hour/non-benefited position

Reports To:       Athletic/Activities Director and Principal

 

 

SUMMARY:   

Provide assistance to athletes, coaches, and families to possess a strong understanding of sports-related injuries and treatment.   The athletic trainer will work with medical professionals and coaches to evaluate athletes’ condition, establish plans for treatment, fitness, and track progress. The athletic trainer will ensure athletes accomplish their health and fitness goals and receive the proper training and treatment.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Coordinate ordering necessary products, supplies, and services with the athletic director and/or athletic trainers. 

SUPERVISION:  

Supervise students that are under your immediate care and/or participating in events that you are overseeing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Valid Virginia State license and certification in Athletic Training. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.  The employee must be able to lift overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.  Lifting or moving children to wheelchair, table, desk, or assisting with bathroom/hygiene.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to push items of 50 pounds such as pushing a child on a bike or swing, or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

Must be able to work both inside and outside and within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality.  Interruptions are routine and flexibility and patience are required.  Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments under stressful conditions.  After hours work may be required.  

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

$50.00 per hour/non-benefited position

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of  personnel.
