Description

Fluvanna County Public Schools is seeking to hire substitute cafeteria/food service workers.  The substitute will work in the absence of a regular cafeteria worker. 

This is a substitute position.  

Assignments and locations vary depending on the daily needs of the division. 

Salary:  $11.00 hourly, non-benefited substitute position

Responsibilities:

The substitute cafeteria worker is responsible for all aspects of preparing and serving meal items as well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition. 

·         Follow work schedule as assigned by manager;

·         Operate all equipment used in food service;

·         Prepares and serves food and beverage items according to mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements;

·         Evaluates prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature;

·         Inventories food, condiments and supplies to ensure availability of items;

·         Serve as a cashier;

·         Check in and store food and non-food supplies;

·         Clean all equipment and areas used in food service;

·         Record daily usage and leftovers;

·         Follow all safety guidelines;

·         Assist other personnel, as needed, to ensure an efficient and effective work environment;

·         Perform other duties as assigned;

 

Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and carry under some temperature extremes and some potentially hazardous conditions. Must be able to perform and tolerate the following: 

·         Above average heat in work area;

·         Ability to lift at least 50 pounds;

·         Walk 100 feet carrying 30 pounds;

·         Push and/or pull carts while walking;

·         Reach above shoulders and lift 20-30 pounds;

·         Climb steps, stools, ladders and lift 20-30 pounds;

·         Stand for prolonged amounts of time;

·         Exposure to or contact with potentially caustic cleaning materials.

 Requirements/Qualifications: 

  •  Must be at least 18 years of age;

  •  Ability to perform basic mathematical equations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; 

  •  High School diploma or GED preferred;

  •  Cashier experience preferred.
